Learn From Your Changes

Psalms 55:19b: . . . Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.

2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

If Christ has never changed you in any way you are not in Him. If He has just changed you in a few small ways it will be hard for you to be sure that you are in Him. The more changes He makes in you, the easier it will be for you to know that you are in Him. You have free will. He will not force His changes upon you. He will not change you without your consent and cooperation.

Many refuse to receive Jesus because they understand that He wants to change them and they do not want to be changed. Sadly, many genuine Christians reach a point where they are satisfied with just a few of His changes. Change can be painful to our flesh. The most satisfied Christians are the ones who permit God to CONTINUE changing them every day or as often as He wants.

The first thing He changed about me was my attitude toward what He says, especially what He says in the Bible. Before I received Christ I thought the Bible was boring. I preferred not to hear from God anyway. The evening of the day I was saved I began reading the Bible. It was if I had discovered buried treasure. I hope He has changed your attitude toward the Bible.

He gave me a love for others that I did not have before. He began taking away the hatred I had for them and replacing it with love. He is still doing that. I still have to battle with my flesh.

He has changed my taste in churches. I love the ones that encourage people to receive Christ and have an aversion to the ones that don*t.

He has given me many new enemies. Some unbelievers have become actively hateful toward me whose animosity toward me was inactive before I received Christ.

He has also given me many new friends. When I meet other Christians we have a wonderful bond almost instantly. When we communicate we understand one another almost perfectly.

Perhaps you should make a list of things the Lord has changed about you. If you don*t know of anything He has changed about you and your life it is a huge red flag. You may not be a new creature yet or you may not be growing.
